According to Mat Piscatella, Executive Director and Video Game Industry Analyst at Circana, the simultaneous launch on PS5 and PC propelled Helldivers 2 to become one of Sony's most successful games ever.
"PC has been a huge part of the success of Helldivers II in the US. With PC, Helldivers II is already the 7th highest-grossing Sony-published game in history. Without PC it wouldn't currently rank among the top 20," Piscatella wrote on Twitter.
"And according to Circana's Player Engagement Tracker, Helldivers II has ranked first in US MAU on Steam each month since launch (including April). Launching Helldivers II on both PlayStation and PC has been nothing short of a massive, resounding success."
Piscatella also highlighted that Dragon's Dogma 2 claimed the top spot as the best-selling game in the US for March, with Helldivers 2 following closely in second place, and MLB: The Show 24 rounding out the top three. Rise of the Ronin secured the fifth slot, while Princess Peach: Showtime! landed in sixth place, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth slipped to seventh.
As of the end of March, Helldivers 2 maintained its position as the best-selling game of the year thus far, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III in second place and Dragon's Dogma 2 securing the third spot.
