An Artist Presents a Realistic Take on True Detective's Rust Cohle

Louis Squara utilized Maya, ZBrush, and Substance 3D to set up the model.

Senior Character Artist Louis Squara has paid tribute to the iconic True Detective series, presenting a detailed and highly realistic 3D recreation of Rust Cohle, the protagonist of the show's first season, portrayed by Matthew McConaughey.

Aiming to capture the series' atmosphere and the nihilistic energy of the character, the artist utilized Maya, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, Marvelous Designer, and Marmoset Toolbag to set up the full-body model of Cohle. According to Louis, the main goal of the project was to test out the author's observation skills and the ability to translate a person's likeness into 3D.
